In 2003, Nike developed a program at the OHSU Doernbecher Foundation that would allow children admitted in the hospital to design their very own shoes. Brody Miller, an 11-year-old boy diagnosed with a brain malformation, got to create the Air More Uptempo 'Doernbecher,’ making his dreams of becoming a superhero true. The sneaker features a blue nubuck upper with “BPM” lettering on the side instead of the classic “AIR” of the Uptempo. The sneaker also sports a full-length Air unit for responsive cushioning and red and yellow accents tastefully dispersed throughout. Keep an eye out for glow in the dark “BE STRONG” lettering on the outsole.
