ASICS Gel-Lyte III Ronnie Fieg Total Eclipse

Inspired by a solar eclipse, the Ronnie Fieg x Asics Gel-Lyte III 'Total Eclipse' were originally released for $145 in November 2012. Sometimes referred to as the Leather Toe GL3, the Total Eclipse are the reverse materials used on RF's previous release, the Leather backs. Using thicker materials than his prior ASICS, Ronnie Fieg designed the Total Eclipse to endure the harsh winters of New York. It was also the first Ronnie Fieg shoe to feature 'rope lace' styling, replacing flat, monochromatic laces with thick, multi-colored round laces. This innovation would later become a signature feature in most Ronnie Fieg Asics releases, influencing brands across the industry. The colors of the Total Eclipse Gel Lytes reflect the shades of an actual eclipse, showcasing dark, rich colors that subtly contrast with the eclipse itself. Fieg successfully achieved this on the GEL-Lyte III by employing leather and nubuck as the base and creating the eclipse effect with vibrant red highlights on the stripes, toe hits, and laces.
