The Asics Gel Lyte III Concepts Three Lies debuted in mid-2013 and is inspired by the Boston area. This GL3 honors the Statue of John Harvard, also known as the Statue of Three Lies, because of the statue's inscription that reads "John Harvard, Founder, 1636." However, none of that is true; the statue is not of John Harvard, but of a 19th-century Harvard student, John Harvard was not the actual founder of Harvard University but an early financial contributor, and Harvard was founded in 1636, not 1638. The gold perforated leather toeboxes are inspired by the shiny left shoe of the statue, polished by countless tourists over time. The dark green/navy premium suede upper mimics the statue's current color. This GLIII includes various lace options, including a flat lace that reflects the beautiful teal patina of the statue.
