The New Balance 2002R Mule Rain Cloud is an updated version of the 2002R that offers a slip-on design without a heel. Like other 2002R models, the mule variation in Rain Cloud provides a mesh upper, overlapping suede and leather overlays, and cutouts. It does not house a lace cage or collar. The underfoot includes an ABZORB midsole that adds a slightly technical look, while a rubber outsole grips the ground and provides a pop of black against the otherwise grey-toned base. The New Balance 'N' is embroidered on the side panel, and perforations decorate the area that usually contains the laces.
