Japanese designer Rei Kawakubo is one of the most prolific fashion designers of all time. She has collaborated on numerous sneaker projects through her Comme des Garçons collections, most notably with the Converse Chuck Taylor. The collaboration began in 2009, when Kawakubo reimagined the classic sneaker by removing its contrast stitching. In 2015, she unveiled the All Star Chuck 70s, which has since become a cherished design, re-released annually. The signature feature of the Comme des Garçons PLAY line is the distinct heart and eyes logo, created by Filip Pagowski. The 2015 model shifted from minimalist origins to a more expressive style. The Converse Chuck Taylor All-Star 70s Hi Comme des Garçons PLAY is a high-top sneaker that combines classic 70s aesthetics with modern elements, featuring a snug ankle-hugging collar, a sleek black upper, white laces, and a white sole and toe cap. This model was launched in March 2019 with a retail price of $125.
