After debuting on the Fall / Winter 2019 runway, Nike and Sacai have teamed up once again to release the Sacai Nike Blazer Mid Black Grey. Chitose Abe founded Sacai in 1999 after working on design teams at Comme Des Garcons and Junya Watanabe, known for its elevated technical ability to splice separate items together to create something new. This modified Blazer design stays true to Sacai’s design principles while utilizing Nike’s materials and blueprint. The mudguard, tongue, laces, heel, and classic Swoosh are all doubled and juxtaposed to expose each layer. This collaboration showcases a color palette of black, wolf grey, and white, released in October 2019 for $140. The Sacai x Nike Blazer Mid translates the Japanese fashion label's deconstructed aesthetic with two-fold design elements, including twin tongues with exposed padding, layered Swooshes, and stacked eyestays. Co-branding details are featured on the heel, while textured rubber panels pile up on the counter and sidewall. Its signature cupsole maintains a classic appearance with herringbone-patterned gum tread.
